About Me
I’m a long-time software systems designer and builder, currently building machine learning systems focused on bioacoustics.
I was one of the creators of the Internet Archive’s Archive-It web archiving service. I spent 2013 as a Code for America Fellow. Later, I helped start up the NextRequest public records management system. I build systems that make messy real-world data usable.
I’m currently working on AudioLoop. Large audio datasets are easy to gather, but are often too large to practically label. AudioLoop speeds up labeling using human-in-the-loop active learning.
Other work is visible at (https://demo.danavery.com).
I’m based in San Francisco, where I spend my spare time trying to keep one of the cats from eating too much plastic.
